When you work on many different things at the same time you can easily avoid the hard and uncomfortable work and just switch to that other thing you're working on and do the easy and comfortable stuff there.
And it usually works pretty well.
Until you reach that point where you're working on multiple projects at the same time with close to zero real progress where all the easy and comfortable work has already been done and all that's left is the hard and uncomfortable work.
The bad news is this..
We can't avoid the hard and uncomfortable stuff because real progress almost never comes from doing the easy and comfortable stuff.
Real progress almost exclusively comes from doing the hard and uncomfortable stuff.
The stuff we usually try to avoid by switching from one thing to the next.
That's why it's so hard to focus.
Because to focus means that you have to deal with the hard and uncomfortable stuff.
The stuff we usually don't want to deal with.
But doing the hard and uncomfortable stuff is the only way to make real progress.
And to become a real professional...
