Sometimes people want to hear the things they don't want to hear, just so they can point at you for saying the things they don't want to hear.
Even though what they thought they heard wasn't really what you said.
It is what it is. And we can't really change a lot about it...
The worst thing we could do is to try to convince them that what they heard wasn't really what we said.
And the more we try to explain what we really wanted to say, the more they will hear the things they don't want to hear.
Because the things they don't want to hear are based on past experiences.
They are based on the way they've been treated in the past.
The way they've been misunderstood for their whole lives.
So how can we make them understand?
I don't know. It's really difficult.
But trying to understand them, their past, their experiences and what shaped them is probably the first step...
