A platform works until it doesn't.
Organic Facebook fan page reach worked until Facebook started charging for reach.
Organic Twitter reach worked until they started charging for reach.
Organic Medium reach will work until it doesn't.
Just like Pinterest organic reach will work until it doesn't.
Or any other platform out there.
It's always the same thing.
Platforms work until they don't.
And then everybody is surprised that these platforms stop working.
That they stop giving away free reach.
But the truth is that all of these platforms are businesses.
And they're all based on the same business model.
Monetizing reach...
Just like newspapers are monetizing reach.
Or TV shows.
Or magazines.
Or billboards.
Or whatever.
So instead of being surprised or angry at a business that it's a business, try to bring people onto your own platform while you still have the chance.
Build your own blog.
Your own website.
An email list.
Some sort of community.
You name it.
Because it's always the same thing.
It works, until it doesn't.
On another note... paid reach is still highly underestimated...
