There's no one left anymore who could say “yes” to you. Or “no”.
Most gatekeepers are gone.
So back in the days you had at least people telling you either “yes” or “no”.
But today, no one says “yes” or “no” anymore.
As a matter of fact, the response you'll hear the most is silence.
Especially when you're just getting starting.
Silence is the sound you'll hear the most when you put your work out there.
That song.
That painting.
That book.
That piece of art.
That blog post.
That poem.
Silence...
And silence is probably one of the hardest things to deal with.
When you don't get any feedback whatsoever.
It's worse than a “no”.
It leaves you clueless.
And that missing feedback is why many people just give up.
Why we stop putting ourselves and our work out there.
We think that silence means “no”.
When in fact silence can mean “yes”.
But we're just not sure yet.
Because we want to see more.
We want to hear more.
Because we've already seen hundreds of pieces today.
Because we've already listened to hundreds of songs today.
Because we don't know you well enough, yet.
So we just wait. And see what happens next.
We wait and see whether or not you'll still be around tomorrow.
Or the day after tomorrow.
Simply because most people will be gone tomorrow.
Most people give in to the sound of silence.
Don't be one of them...
