Being a writer is not fun. It's probably one of the worst things out there.
Everything you put out there, everything you publish, no matter if it's a book or a blog post feels like something inside of you is dying. It's like you're constantly giving birth to something new. And the old is dying.
You're constantly giving birth to some of your ideas, your thoughts and whatever it is that's on your mind. And then that thing you've just published is out there. It's out there to be judged. To be made fun of. To be criticized. And it will be. And you won't be able to do anything against it.
Just like you can't shelter your new born baby from the world out there. From the sometimes cruel things that happen in the world. From the cruel things that will happen to her. From the cruel things that happen to others.
She will be judged. She will be ridiculed and she will get a scar or two. Maybe even three. And you can't do anything about it. It's just the way it is.
It doesn't matter what you put out there into the world. Be it a blog post, a book, an idea, a painting, a design, a new service or a new product. It will happen. It will be judged. It will be made fun of. No matter what.
And that's ok. Because you don't create your art for the people who don't like your art. Who don't appreciate your art. You don't put your work out there for people who will criticize it. Who will criticize you. You put your art out there for the people who get inspiration from it. Who will appreciate it. Those are the people you should focus on.
Forget about the people who will judge you. Forget about the people who will criticize you. Forget about the people who will try to find weak points in your arguments. In your thoughts. In your ideas. And in your work. Heck, in your entire life.
And instead try to focus on the people who give you energy. Focus on the people who appreciate what you're doing. Create your art for them. And for yourself. And no one else...
