I don't know where I am right now...
Or where I'll be tomorrow. Heck, I don't even know where I was just twenty minutes ago.
But I know that a lot of things I did got me nowhere. And just a few things got me somewhere.
# having it
I always thought that I had it. That I had more potential than this. And you know what? Thinking doesn't change a thing. You've gotta prove it. If you can't prove it, it means you ain't got a damn thing. So I challenged myself. To prove it. To myself. And if you're like me, if you think you have what it takes, if you think you can do more than this, then I challenge you to go out there and prove it...
Consumption never gets you anywhere. There's an unlimited amount of content, blogs, videos and what not out there. And the only thing consuming all sorts of stuff will do is that all these things will paralyze you. Instead of pushing you to go out there and really take action. I stopped consuming stuff online a while ago. And instead I now spend the time producing. So ask yourself this simple question: do I want to be a producer or a consumer? And then act accordingly...
Too much thinking never got me anywhere. The only thing that ever got me somewhere was to start doing.
I lost money every single day for three years in a row. At the same time my friends and the folks I studied with were getting married, buying their first Porsche or watches that cost more than what I spend during an entire year.
Waiting never helps. The stars will never align. I wasn't ready when I wrote my first book. I wasn't ready when I started my blog. I wasn't ready to give a talk in front of more than 100 people. But I did it nonetheless. So don't wait until you're ready. Don't wait for the stars to align. Because they never will. Just do it. No matter what...
If your best bet is to do what everybody else is doing, if you aspire to get the same jobs, get the same education like everybody else, then you'll only be competing with everybody else. In a market where every single day millions of new competitors are entering you can't possibly win. A market where you're now competing with 7 billion other people. Instead, be yourself and bet on your differences. And find your strengths. And listen to who you are deep down inside.
I always thought that I needed this or that I needed that. That the things I wanted were restricted to a selected group of people. But they aren't. In this day and age, everything is accessible to everyone. As soon as you stop waiting for people to give you access to things you'll realize that there aren't any restrictions left anymore. No matter where you're born. Or where you live. Or how you look like. if you really want it and are ready to fight for it, you'll get it...
# don't talk
Talk is cheap. Everybody can talk about that grand idea, that grand vision that might change the world. But only a few ever execute. So don't just talk about how smart you are. Don't just talk about your grand idea. Go out there and do shit!
But the one thing that really got me where I am right now (wherever that might be) is that I realized that I already have everything I need. I have more than enough.
I have access to more water than I will ever be able to drink.
I have access to more food than I will ever be able to eat.
I have access to more clothes than I will ever be able to wear.
I have enough...
"It's never too late to be who you say you are!"
Then I went to being an author and blogger. And then back to being an entrepreneur and public speaker.
And now I do all of it at the same time.
All while living out of a carry-on backpack with just three outfits in it. At one point I've decided to I write a book about what I've learned.
And today you can get a free copy of it.
