Whenever something feels uncomfortable, whenever something just doesn’t feel right, like sitting uncomfortably in a chair, you’ll have to change whatever it is that makes you feel so uncomfortable.
You’ll have to change your position. Or your posture. Over and over again. To figure out what it is that makes you feel so uncomfortable.
Until it feels just right. And when it feels just right you can finally relax. And enjoy your movie. Your beer. And your popcorn.
Most of us get stuck here. Most of us get stuck watching that movie. Or drinking that beer. Or eating that popcorn.
And when you do this for too long, when you’re comfortable for too long, you’ll lose your drive to change things. To improve things. To create things. And to do something incredible.
Being comfortable takes away the most important ingredient of innovation. Of creativity. Of change. Of pretty much everything.
It takes away the part where something just doesn’t feel right. Where something feels uncomfortable.
It takes away the part where you want to, no where you have to change something.
And when this part is missing, when you’re too comfortable, you’ll always do just ok work. You’ll write ok reports. You’ll do ok presentations. You’ll create ok products. And live an ok life.
Until.. Until you turn off that TV, stop drinking that beer, stop eating that popcorn and start getting a bit more uncomfortable again..
