Everybody says that we have to focus. We have to focus on one thing only. Then we’ll become successful. Or an expert. Or live a happy life. Or whatever.
But it misses a very important point.
It misses the point that before being able to figure out what to focus on you need to know what to focus on.
You need to figure out first what works and what doesn’t work. You need to figure out first what works for you and what doesn’t.
You need to open up that funnel and test many different things. You need to experiment. You shouldn’t be focused on one thing only.
And if you skip that step, if you focus right away and don’t try to figure out what works and what doesn’t you’ll end up climbing a ladder you don’t really care about.
Or you’ll end up focusing on something that was doomed right from the very start. Or you’ll put all your money in Facebook ads that clearly don’t work for your type of business.
So the next time someone tells you that you need laser targeted focus, that you should focus on one thing only, don’t skip that step. Don’t skip that step of figuring out first what works and what doesn’t.
And once you found it, once you know what really works, that’s when you need to be focused. That’s when you’ll need laser targeted focus. That’s when you’ll have to go all chips all in..
