Twitter still works. Facebook ads still work. E-mail still works. LinkedIn still works. And yes, even blogging still works. Everything you think that doesn't work anymore still works. It's just that times changed.
Whenever something new pops up it works like a charm. Until it doesn't anymore. Until everybody uses it. And when everybody starts using something, the easy stuff stops working. Because everybody is doing the easy stuff. And then it just stops working.
And when the easy stuff stops working everybody out there screams as loud as they can that it doesn't work anymore. And that's when most people quit. That's probably why you quit. Or never really started in the first place.
Most people quit when the easy stuff doesn't work anymore. When people scream as loud as they can that it doesn't work anymore. It's like the bell curve. In case I remember it correctly. In case I ever really understood it. Maybe I should have paid more attention in school..
In the beginning everything works like a charm. Facebook. Twitter. E-Mail. Blogging. Pinterest. Whatever. Everything is super easy.
And then, all of a sudden, once the majority starts using it, it gets a lot harder. And when it gets harder, most people quit. And then you'll be left with only a few people using it. Only a few people try to make it work. All the others are just lazy. And quit.
A few people are left willing to put in the hard work to make it work. And the hard work will pay off so much more than everything else. It pays off even more than the easy stuff in the beginning. It's now mature. And the reach is much bigger.
You can now reach everyone on this planet. Even that gal sitting on the sidewalk in Burma and browsing Facebook on her mobile phone. You can easily serve her an ad. Or that that guy who sits in his hotel room right across the street. I can serve him an ad as well. Right now..
That's how mature all of these platforms are now. But you don't know any of it. Because you quit early. Because you listened to the folks screaming. The folks who don't know anything. Who don't know any of this.
Putting in the hard work will now pay off so much more because no one else is left to benefit from it. You'll be the only one left to benefit. In case you're willing to put in the hard work to make it work.
When you're willing to put in the really hard work, when you're really willing to understand the logic behind something, when you're willing to put in the hard work to make it work, then you'll be able to reap off almost all of the benefits. Because no one else is left. They all left the party early.
And everybody who is telling you that it doesn't work anymore, that it's broken or whatever simply left early. They didn't want to put in the hard work to make it work..
