The other day I talked to a good friend and business partner of mine.
I like the word business partner. I recently heard someone say this, so I felt like I could step up my game and use it here. Maybe it makes me sound smarter. Maybe not..
Anyways. We were talking about this and that. At one point he came up with an awesome metaphor about life.
Life, to most of us, feels like we're getting ready for the Olympics. Getting ready for the one big race. Our big race. Our 15 minutes of fame. But then nothing really ever happens..
We're constantly getting better and better at the things we do.
We're patiently waiting at the starting blocks, eager to start the race.
We're desperately waiting for the starting signal, which doesn't seem to be given any time soon.
Until we realize that it'll never come.
Until we realize that we've been waiting our lives away.
That there was no one there to give us a starting signal.
That the race already started without us.
That everybody is responsible for her own starting signal.
And that's the hardest truth about life.
We can be as well prepared as we can be, we can be among the best out there, but if we're constantly waiting for others to give us a starting signal to unleash our potential and to tap into our strengths, we'll be waiting our lives away.
Because it's never going to happen.
The only person that's able to unleash your potential and to tap into your strengths is the person you see in the mirror every morning. It's you..
So instead of waiting, pull the trigger yourself and give yourself your own starting signal to unleash your potential, to tap into your strengths and to create your own future. And then run as fast and as long as you can..
