I always hated this saying until just recently when I really understood its true meaning.
Just a couple of days ago I still thought that it means once you have it, you invest it in whatever kind of assets, sit back, relax and watch it getting more and more.
This clearly didn’t help me because well, I simply don’t have any of it to invest in anything. Hence, it can obviously not work for me, at least not now.
So to me the consequence was that I had to work for it first to be able to have it work for me at some point in time in the not so near future.
It’s like chasing the carrot that is right in front of you but you will never be able to catch it.
But after a couple of months of struggling and trying to be able to find ways to make ends meet to be able to pay rent, bills, etc. I finally understood what the saying really wants to tell us.
If you don’t have a regular income you will constantly be on the lookout for opportunities, you will be a lot more creative, have plenty of ideas and try to seize almost every opportunity that comes up.
After a while you tried out so many different things, crazy things, stupid things, brilliant things, hilarious things and maybe even embarrassing things and you start to realize what it really does for you.
It actually does really work for you.
If you are not in a stable financial situation, you don’t have a regular and secure income it actually constantly motivates and pushes you out of your comfort zone to find new and creative solutions to all your problems.
It even makes you the person that you maybe secretly always wanted to be. It will make you a risk taker, a believer, a visionary, a believer, a builder...
It pretty much helps you get your lazy ass off that couch and start doing instead of waiting for things to magically happen to you.
And once we start to understand all of this, it will change our lives forever.
So thanks money for working for me and helping me become the person I secretly always wanted to be!
What do I suggest you do now? Quit your job?!
The only thing I suggest is that you read it one more time and if it puts a smile on your face just share this story with your friends and put a smile on their faces too...
