These days a lot of people were asking me about how I decide whether or not I will publish some of my thoughts online, be it a blog post, a newsletter, an e-mail or whatever kind of content.
Things that you are somehow reluctant doing, saying, writing or don't want people to know about you. Things that you unconsciously know might provoke feelings, be it negative or positive ones. Things that surprise or things that people already know, but would never have the courage to speak out loud.
To put it quite simple:
Things that make you worry about what people will think about you.
When you want your voice to be heard and people to listen to what you say you have to constantly be ready to get your ass out of your comfort zone. At the end of the day we all want to have some kind of impact on people and want people to read, share and love what we do. But you won't have any sort of impact if you don't take the first step.
This first step is about doing things that others wouldn't do because fear would just simply paralyze them. It is about taking risks, overcoming your fears, about being 100% honest, about giving people a chance to relate to you, your story, your advice or even your company.
That's the only chance to stand out, to get your voice out there and be recognized by other people. When you take a risk people will automatically feel it, appreciate it and will relate even more to you and your story.
If you don’t take any risk, play it safe all the time and try to blend in, people will recognize it as well and just move on and leave you standing there empty-handed.
