That TV you can't really afford doesn't just cost you a monthly salary.
Just like that phone you can't really afford doesn't just cost you half a monthly salary.
Just like that college education doesn't cost your parents just a one year or maybe even a two year salary.
Or that house...
It all actually costs a lot more.
It all costs the time you'd need to save up all that money.
And the amount you're able to save each and every month is usually only a tiny fraction of what you make each and every month.
So instead of costing you a monthly salary it can quickly turn into an entire year of savings.
Or ten years of savings. Or maybe even more...
Is it really worth all that trouble?
