You can't convince a 5 year old to not touch the hot plate.
Whatever you do or say, the only way that 5 year old will stop trying to touch the hot plate is when she touched the hot plate.
And adults are no different.
No matter how many times we read something, hear someone say something or what not, we will only believe it and make it part of our lives once we've experienced it ourselves.
So the only way to truly learn anything in life is to touch the hot plate as much and as often and as early as you can.
Sometimes you will burn your fingers.
Sometimes you won't.
Sometimes you will feel pain.
And sometimes you will feel joy.
But avoiding the hot plate altogether, avoiding life altogether with all of its ups and downs is never a good idea.
Avoiding joy just because you might experience pain isn't what this is all about.
Living a life with all of its ups and downs is what this is all about.
A life where you might burn your fingers every once in a while.
Where you might experience darkness every once in a while.
So you'll be able to truly appreciate the light.
