No one can stay on top of their game forever.
At some point you won't be able to stay on top of your game anymore.
Maybe just for a short period of time.
Maybe for a longer period of time.
It will happen.
No matter what.
And that's when most people give up.
I've said this in the past already and I'm going to say it again...
It's not what you do on your good days that will make you.
It's what you do on your bad days days that will either make you or break you.
And most people give up on their bad days.
When you're not on top of your game.
When it feels like you've already said everything that can be said.
When it feels like no one is listening anymore.
When it feels like you can't possibly hit another home run just like that last one.
When you feel like you can't possibly make another song that great.
Or blog post.
When it feels like the only thing that's going to come next is going to be a lot worse than the last thing.
But that's exactly when you can't give up.
When you should keep pushing.
Simply because no one is able to hit home runs all the time.
And that's the difference between the people who make it to the top and stay there and people who will never make it to the top.
They know that it takes more than just two strikes to hit just one home run.
Sometimes it might even take an entire lifetime to hit just that one home run.
I have to go now.
I‘m busy collecting strikes…
