Someone just sent me this question.
I think it's a beautiful question.
So I answered it right away.
It's a question you could either answer by writing an entire book about it or by writing just a few sentences.
For today, I decided to just write a few sentences...
My mom turned 72 this year.
She still works a lot as a volunteer. Almost every single evening, every weekday. So I told her to come and visit me in Thailand where I'm currently staying. That's what she did. She came over for her 72nd birthday and we traveled together for 3 weeks...
My niece will turn 13 this year.
Her father (my adopted brother) is a very hard working immigrant from Northern Africa. She sees how hard he works physically with little to no chances of improving his life circumstances through physical labor.
And then she sees me, also working very hard, but not physically, but in front of my laptop. And I'm constantly traveling, seeing the world, doing all sorts of different things like writing books and a lot of other things she doesn't really understand yet.
I won't tell my niece anything. She has to figure it out all by herself. All I can do is to show her what the future is probably going to look like by living the way I live.
It's up to her to make a choice...
