Today is the best time to be alive.
Even though we're all starting with a different set of doors, it all starts with opening that first door.
If you never open that first door, you'll never get to where you want to be. Where you have to be.
And it doesn't matter where you're from. What's written on your passport. Or how much or how little you have to begin with.
Look. You can complain your whole life about the fact that your doors are different from the doors that other people start off with.
You could complain your whole life about the fact that other people have way more doors available to chose from than you might ever have in your entire life.
You could complain about the fact that most people don't have to open as many doors as you might have to until you get to where you want to be.
Or you could start opening that first door, maybe the only door you have right now and start walking through that door. And then you go and open up the next door. And then the next one.
Or you could keep complaining.
But complaining won't get you anywhere. No matter where you are right now.
It doesn't really matter where you're from. It all starts with acknowledging the fact that your doors might be different from my doors. Or anybody else's doors. And once you've acknowledged this you need to start opening that first door. And then the second. And then the third...
And you know what?
At the end of the day opening doors is hard for everyone. Sure, for some people it might be harder than for others. But at the end of the day it's always hard. No matter where you're from. No matter how many or how few doors you have available.
Because when you walk through that first door you're risking everything you got. No matter how much or how little that is. The thing we're scared of the most is to lose what we already have. We're scared of the unknown.
That's why it's always easier to stay in that room you already know. That room you've already stayed in your whole life. That room where you're not risking anything. Where you can't lose anything.
And as a matter of fact, a lot of poeple who have the entire world open to them, who have all the doors in the world available to them don't even walk though a single door in their entire lives.
They stay in that one room. Because that one room is comfortable. Because they know that room already. What's in there.
Opening that door is scary. For everyone. Because you don't know what's behind that door. Because you might lose it all.
So most people stay in that one room they know already. Where they know everything already. Without ever trying to find out what's behind those other doors.
So we live a life full of closed doors. We never start opening those doors. Even though we have all the doors in the world available to us.
And to me, that's the single most important reason why today is the best time to be alive.
Because there are more doors available to each and every one of us than there ever were before. No matter where you're from.
Sure, we're all starting off with a different set of doors. But if you're willing to go through enough doors it doesn't really matter where you're from or with how many doors you started off with.
And the competition is still low once you've started walking through enough doors. Most people are still competing for a spot on that couch in that first room. A very small couch where there's only space for just a few people.
It's just as they say. It's lonely at the top. Whatever that top might look like to you.
It's very lonely once you've entered the fourth, fifth or even the sixth room. Most people are still in the first or in the second room. Simply because no one dares to open doors anymore.
So how do you get to the fifth, sixth or maybe even seventh room where there's almost nobody?
It all starts with opening that first door. And then the second. And then the third. And never giving up. And never stopping until you are where you want to be. Where you have to be. No matter how hard it'll be. No matter how many times you feel like giving up.
Look. One half of the planet is scared of what's behind those doors and that they might lose all they got, while the other half of the planet is complaining that they have a different set of doors to begin with.
So at the end of the day no one opens those doors anymore and no one seizes any opportunities anymore.
Today is the best time to be alive.
Just like yesterday was the best time to be alive.
Just like tomorrow will be the best time to be alive.
Or the day after tomorrow...
