Only ideas that spread win. That's the general narrative.
That's what we've been told by all of these gurus out there.
But it misses an important point.
It misses the point that ideas don't spread.
If you want your ideas or your work to spread, you need to make them spread.
And because that's really, really hard we tend to skip that part.
Instead we fall in love with the result and never really feel like putting in the hard work.
To spread the word about your work, your art or your ideas is the hardest part in the creation process.
It's a lot harder than coming up with ideas. Or creating your piece of art. Or your blog post. Or your book.
Coming up with ideas is easy. Just like writing a blog post is easy. Or a book.
What's really hard is to make them spread.
That's why I add more than 1000 people a day on Twitter.
That's why I add a few thousand people on Medium every month.
That's what I did on Quora.
That's what I do everywhere.
To help my ideas spread.
Because ideas don't spread. You need to make them spread.
So don't be like everybody else. Don't believe in the general narrative.
Don't wait for your ideas, your work or your art to spread.
Don't wait for that one magic day where people will find out about you.
Don't just sit there and wish for your work to spread. Do. The. Work!
P.S. To help you spread your work I created this: http://bit.ly/1YHNMwX
